On May 11, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the TATU “Trade Union Center of Almaty” and the PA “International Human Rights Center”. This agreement is designed to implement the idea of modernizing public consciousness to resolve disputes and conflicts in a peaceful manner, as well as to reduce conflict in society.
The Memorandum provides for mutually beneficial cooperation between the Trade Union Center of Almaty and the International Human Rights Center with the aim of developing mediation and other alternative ways of resolving conflicts through conciliatory procedures. Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties plan to hold joint seminars and conferences, as well as organize the right-explanatory work on the possibilities of applying mediation in the field of civil law.
The International Human Rights Center was established in 1997 on the initiative of 9 national-cultural centers of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The main activities of the IHRC are:
- assistance in the development of democratic processes, the building of civil society and the rule of law, the introduction and development of the institution of mediation in Kazakhstan;
- providing legal, psychological and mediational assistance;
- training of professional mediators, keeping their register;
- development of projects and programs on the protection of human rights, the development of mediation and the reduction of conflict in the society; monitoring and analysis of human rights issues.
