Today in the Federation of Trade Unions a meeting took place between the leaders of the FTURK headed by First Deputy FTURK Birzhan Nurymbetov and the American delegation led by the Director for Labor Affairs of the Office of the US Trade Representative Michael O’Donovan.
Birzhan Nurymbetov acquainted the American guests with the FTURK trade union system and spoke about the main activities at this stage. He stressed the importance of effective interaction of FTURK with international organizations.
The parties discussed issues reflected in the Road Map on the implementation of the recommendations of the International Labor Organization. Aspects of improving labor legislation and the effective use of GSP by Kazakhstan were also discussed.
GSP in favor of developing countries is a system of preferential customs tariffs for goods exported by developing countries to the USA. Preferences (preferential customs tariff rates) are granted to developing countries individually by introducing preferential customs duties by domestic law on goods imported from developing countries, without requiring any reciprocal concessions from developing countries.
