Participation of representatives of trade unions in the work of the Public Council on fuel and energy complex and ecology of the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan contributes to the implementation of the state policy on the formation of the state accountable to the population and ensures the participation of KAZMUNAYGAZPROF in the discussion and decision-making by the authorized state body.
In the city Nur-Sultan on 26 April this year, the Chairman of the Public Association “national trade Union of oil and gas complex” (hereinafter — KAZMUNAJGAZA), a member of the Public Council on questions to a power complex and ecology of the Ministry of energy Sultan Kaliev took part at the meeting of the Minister of energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev with representatives of the civil sector and NGOs to discuss relevant issues in the electricity industry.
The head of the Department presented a brief overview of the activities of the Ministry of energy in the electricity sector. It should be noted that the country has 138 power plants with an installed capacity of 21,902 MW, and the total output in 2018 amounted to 106.8 billion kWh, which allowed to fully cover electricity consumption in the country at the expense of its own energy sources. In addition, there is a decrease in the cost of electricity in the Republic, it is planned to export electricity to the EAEU countries.
Kanat Bozumbayev noted that since the beginning of this 2019, 7 renewable energy source (RES) facilities with an installed capacity of 147.6 MW have been commissioned, and 10 more facilities are planned to be commissioned by the end of the year. In 2018, 67 operating RES facilities with a total capacity of 531 MW Were commissioned, and currently 74 RES facilities with a total capacity of 678.6 MW operate in the country. “Since last year, the selection for the implementation of renewable energy projects is held on the auction mechanism. This allowed, on the one hand, to make transparent and understandable the process of selecting projects and investors, on the other hand, to bet on more efficient technologies and projects that minimize the impact on tariffs for end users from the commissioning of RES capacities,” the Head of the Department said.
Minister of energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev answered the questions of the participants of the meeting, expressed his gratitude for the active participation of members of the Public Council and representatives of NGOs in the discussion of topical issues of the electricity industry.
