The Chairman of the FTURK is on working visits to the Karaganda region.
Yeraly Tugzhanov’s working trip to the Karaganda region began with a visit to the Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karaganda State Technical University. The head of the FTURK got acquainted with the activities of JSC “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”, which is the largest enterprise in the mining and metallurgical sector of the country with a total number of employees of 29,900 people and held a meeting with social partners and the workforce of the blast furnace shop “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”.
The participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of protection of the rights of employees at the enterprise.
The Chairman of the FTURK, in particular, focused on the issues of safety and labor protection, noting that the system of labor protection at the enterprise is aimed at eliminating the consequences of accidents rather than preventing them.
— Not so much time has passed since the major explosion of the gas pipeline that occurred at the plant on November 10, 2018. On September 4 of the current year in the Converter shop there was another accident, four metallurgists suffered, – Yeraly Tugzhanov emphasized.
In total, according to the results of 2018 in the Steel Department of the enterprise, there were 22 accidents, including one with a fatal outcome, and for 8 months of the current year, there were 14 accidents.
At the same time, the majority of accidents were caused by exposure to harmful and dangerous industrial factors and substances, unsatisfactory organization of work, shortcomings in training in safe working conditions.
Yeraly Tugzhanov expressed the opinion on the need to develop joint approaches to prevent and eliminate any risks of accidents in the workplace, including measures to create a system of accounting and control of accidents, as well as the introduction of the concept of “zero injuries” and the project “people’s control” at the enterprise.
The meeting also discussed the measures taken in relation to the miners ‘ demands voiced during the strike on December 2017.
As a result of the work of the conciliation commission, which included representatives of trade Union committees, members of the initiative groups from each mine, representatives of the employer with the participation of the Akim of Karaganda region from 28 points of requirements 17 are executed.
In response to the demand for an increase in wages for underground and surface workers by 100%, a number of employees of engineering and technical personnel, the specified increase was not carried out by the administration.
As a result of the appeal of the Federation of trade unions to the court, this requirement was fulfilled by the company in full.
During the meeting, Yeraly Tugzhanov stressed the importance of raising the salaries of employees in light of the President’s instructions to ensure equal working conditions and wages between foreign and local workers.
As noted, the average salary of employees in the Company is 215 000 tenge in the industry about 260 000 tenge.
The two-day visit of the Chairman of the Federation of trade unions continued with a visit to the mine. T. Kuzembaeva of the coal department of JSC “ArcelorMittal Temirtau” in Sarani, where the Head of the Federation of trade unions met with miners, got acquainted with their working conditions, including the organization of work and observance of labor rights of miners.
On October 18, Yeraly Tugzhanov will meet with the professional staff of the Regional center of traumatology and orthopedics named after Professor H. Zh. Makazhanov in Karaganda.
On the same day, The Chairman of the FTURK is scheduled to meet with Akim of Karaganda region Zh. Kasymbek, during which the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of cooperation between the Federation of trade unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Karaganda region will take place.
