Over 88 billion tenge has been allocated to increase the salaries of medical workers in Kazakhstan

Over 88 billion tenge has been allocated to increase the salaries of medical workers in Kazakhstan. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov, responding to a request from deputies-members of the Nur-Otan party faction.

“In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan dated September 2, 2019 and September 1, 2020, the Head of State instructed to increase the salaries of teachers, medical workers, and cultural workers. As part of the implementation of this order, starting from January 1, 2020, the salaries of teachers of educational organizations have been increased by 25% (with a further annual increase of 25% until 2023 inclusive), employees of cultural organizations at the national level – by 50%, and local level – by 35%. The salary of medical workers has also been increased (from 01.07.2019 – by 30%, from 01.01.2020 – by 30%), ” Yeraly Tugzhanov said.

Due to the fact that this increase in official salaries did not affect medical workers in other areas (including preschool organizations, boarding schools and orphanages) The Ministry of Health has developed a draft resolution that provides for an increase in the salaries of medical workers in all fields of activity from January 1, 2021, with the establishment of correction factors for their official salaries.

“At the same time, the salaries of medical workers in other areas will be increased to the level of salaries of healthcare workers. Additional funds from the republican budget in the amount of 88.2 billion tenge (including 20.9 billion tenge in 2021, 32.3 billion tenge in 2022, and 35 billion tenge in 2023) have been supported to increase the salaries of medical workers in all spheres of activity, including medical workers of educational organizations,” Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov said.

“Also, the Ministry of Education and Science, together with the Ministry of Finance, is working on the issue of establishing an additional payment to librarians of educational organizations in the amount of 30% of the official salary with the allocation of additional budget funds for 2021 in the amount of 1.8 billion tenge. In general, the issues you raise are under the constant control of the Government,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

It should be noted that earlier the Federation of Trade Unions made a number of appeals to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They concerned the regulation of the system of surcharges and allowances for certain categories of employees of educational and health organizations, as well as issues of providing state support to domestic producers.

The response of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the deputy request indicates that the appeals of the FPRK, developed jointly with the deputies of the Nur-Otan party, to a certain extent found support from the Government.

Taking into account the trade union position, by the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, medical workers of military hospitals involved in anti-epidemic measures are assigned allowances at the level of health care workers.

Currently, the Federation at the level of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan raises the issue of attributing cases of infection and death of medical workers from coronavirus infection (viral pneumonia) to accidents, which will give them the opportunity to receive appropriate insurance payments.

In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, the Federation and its member organizations have provided financial assistance to citizens in the amount of more than 500 million tenge. These funds were used to purchase personal protective equipment, essential goods for low-income citizens, pensioners,

labor veterans, to organize hot meals for medical workers at checkpoints and in hospitals, as well as to provide material support to doctors and their families.
