The 14th Congress of Trade Unions Hizmet-Iş has ended in Ankara. This year the Congress was held under the auspices of the Global Labor Force. 600 delegates-representatives of National trade Union centers from 26 countries of the world took part in its work. The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented at the Congress by the First Deputy Chairman of the FTURK Mukhtar Tinikeev.
For two days, the forum participants discussed topical issues of the international trade union agenda: the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor relations in the countries of the world, the goals and objectives of the trade union movement and issues of consolidating joint efforts to protect the rights and interests of workers.
Elections of the head of trade unions Hizmet-Iş were held within the framework of the Congress. The delegates by a majority of votes re-elected President of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Hak-Iş Mahmut Arslan to this post.
Thanking his colleagues for their high trust, Mahmut Arslan noted the need to consolidate the efforts of trade union leaders and activists in solving problems with unemployment, protecting the rights of employees and improving forms of social partnership at all levels.
“Peace and brotherhood, law and justice, love and friendship are the principles of the international trade union movement. By supporting each other, we help defend the rights of employees. By combining our capabilities, we create certain guarantees in protecting the interests of trade union members in our countries,” said the President of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Hak–Iş.
Sharing their impressions about the work of the Congress, its participants noted the importance of sharing experiences and developing common approaches to further promote the rights and interests of workers around the world.
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tinikeev stressed that the role of trade unions in countering modern challenges should be strengthened everywhere.
“Trade unions are the main driving force in protecting workers’ rights and promoting social reforms. Therefore, it is important for the forum participants to exchange experience on the development of the social partnership system, the participation of trade unions in the adoption of socially oriented laws, the actualization and promotion of the principles of justice, in ensuring decent working conditions and decent wages for trade union members. The forum participants are interested in the experience of Turkish trade unions in the development of social partnership,” Mukhtar Tinikeev said.
The social partnership side was represented at the Congress by Deputy Minister of Labor of the Republic of Turkey Eltugrul Soysal.
“We support trade unions and their participation in the fight against unemployment, in the creation of social guarantees within the framework of collective contractual relations. Representatives of governments, employers and employees should maintain and increase parity in trilateral relations,” the Turkish Vice Minister of Labor said, addressing trade union leaders.
The Congress participants agreed that the trade union community, in partnership with national governments and employers’ associations, applying international standards for the development of social and labor relations, can influence the resolution of the consequences of global challenges of our time.
The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Hak-Iş is a partner of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. President of Hak-Iş Mahmut Arslan was one of the first to support the decision to restore the membership of the FTURK in the International Confederation of Labor. The relationship between the Kazakh and Turkish national professional centers is developing dynamically.
The participation of the Kazakh delegation in the 14th Congress of Trade Unions Hizmet-Iş is another step in the development of Kazakh–Turkish cooperation.
