On May 4-5 of the current year, a delegation from the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, led by Chairman Satybaldy Dauletalin, paid a working visit to the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
During the visit, meetings were held with Luke Tronigle, Acting General Secretary of ITUC, Owen Tudor, Deputy General Secretary of ITUC, Anton Lepik, Executive Secretary of PERC, Paap Dankwa, Director of the Legal Department, Beatrice Dipadua, Social Protection Specialist, and others.
During the meeting between Satybaldy Dauletalin, the Chairman of the FTURK, and Luke Tronigle, Acting General Secretary of ITUC, the parties discussed the progress in implementing ITUC recommendations, joint actions regarding the promotion of the New Social Contract, international labor standards, the development of social partnership, ensuring a safe and sustainable life, and achieving social justice.
Issues of ensuring safety and occupational health, implementation of workers’ rights to engage in negotiations, provision of safe and healthy workplaces, protection of workers against discrimination, and building a sustainable world through a just transition were discussed during the meeting with Owen Tudor, Deputy General Secretary of ITUC.
During the discussion with Anton Leppik, Executive Secretary of PERC, the issues of strengthening solidarity during crises, actions of trade unions in creating jobs, increasing wages and minimum living standards, achieving equality, and ensuring equal social dialogue were highlighted.
Satybaldy Dauletalin and Beatriz Dipadua discussed issues related to promoting the ratification by Kazakhstan of ITUC Convention 102, creating a global social protection fund, investments for socially vulnerable people, and taking measures to overcome the cost of living crisis.
The main topic of the meeting between the Kazakhstani delegation and the Director of the Legal Department of the ITUC, Papa Dankua, were issues related to the application of Convention 87 and the implementation of ILO and ITUC recommendations by Kazakhstan.
The delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, led by Chairman Satybaldy Dauletalin, informed the partners from the ITUC about the democratic transformations in the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, as well as reforms and changes in labor legislation, including the provisions of the new Social Code of Kazakhstan.
The leadership of the ITUC and the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of continuous exchange of views on current issues related to the development of social and labor relations, the advancement of social partnership, and the promotion of the principles of social justice by trade unions. The International Trade Union Confederation assured that all necessary advisory and technical support will continue to be provided to Kazakhstani trade unions.
