Ahead of Republic Day, the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan Honored the Contributions of Its Members to the Development of Kazakhstan

Today, on October 24, a ceremonial assembly was held by the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan (FTU) in celebration of Republic Day.

In his opening remarks at the event, the Chairman of the Federation, Satybaldy Dauletalin, congratulated his colleagues on Republic Day and highlighted the holiday’s importance to all Kazakh citizens. In his speech, Dauletalin particularly emphasized the significance of Republic Day in the history of Kazakhstan’s journey to sovereignty.

“October 25, 1990, is a milestone date for Kazakhstan. On this day, the Declaration of State Sovereignty was adopted, proclaiming the independence of our country. This document laid the foundation for building a new, sovereign Kazakhstan. In 2009, Republic Day was removed from the list of state holidays, but two years ago, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed restoring its status as a national holiday. This decision became an act of historical justice and a symbol of respect for the past,” Dauletalin noted.

The Chairman of the Federation emphasized the essential role of trade unions in the country’s development and expressed admiration for the hardworking people and their contributions to building a bright future.

“For all these years, trade unions have been an inseparable part of social partnership, defenders of workers’ rights and interests, and active participants in all significant social and economic reforms. By promoting principles of social justice, representing workers’ interests, and defending their legal rights, the Federation of Trade Unions has contributed to the development of our country. It stands as the largest public organization, uniting around two million workers from more than 16,000 primary trade union organizations. The Federation has actively participated and will continue to participate in shaping a new Kazakhstan,” assured the Head of FTU.

He also emphasized the importance of the President’s initiative to enhance the prestige of working professions and expressed the unions’ readiness to support this endeavor.

“An important aspect for the Federation, as the largest public organization in the country, is the President’s declared initiative to raise the prestige of working and specialized professions. Declaring 2025 as the Year of Working Professions is a critical step, signaling that the Working Person is the foundation of the country’s prosperity. True support for the Working Person starts with respect and recognition of their valuable labor,” added Satybaldy Dauletalin.

During the celebration, an award ceremony took place, where leaders and activists of the Federation were recognized.
