Today, under the leadership of Satubaldy Dauletalin, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FPRK), a working meeting was held with the heads of regional trade union associations.
Key Agenda Topics:
- Actions of trade unions in preventing labor disputes.
- Prevention of workplace injuries at enterprises across the country.
- Providing legal assistance to trade union members on-site.
The FPRK Chairman heard reports from regional Federation divisions on the socio-labor situation in the regions.
The Chairman of the Mangistau Regional Trade Union Association, Sadouakas Bekgaliev, reported on measures taken by social partners concerning several labor disputes at oil and gas enterprises in the region. According to him, the strike of workers in the drilling operations department of “Ozenmunaigas” JSC is ongoing. Workers are dissatisfied with the employer’s response to their demands.
Actions Ordered:
The FPRK Chairman instructed the head of the Mangistau Regional Trade Union Center to initiate a meeting of the Regional Tripartite Commission on the Regulation of Social and Labor Relations. This meeting will address the prevention of labor disputes in the region’s enterprises.
“The Mangistau Trade Union Center, as a full participant in the region’s tripartite social partnership, must immediately initiate a meeting of the Regional Tripartite Commission on all labor disputes in local enterprises. All social partners must understand that responsibility for maintaining stability in enterprises is equally shared. Constructive dialogue among all interested parties is crucial for resolving labor disputes. Relying on labor legislation is the primary rule for trade unions, their social partners, employers, and authorized state bodies. Therefore, any controversial issues must be considered from the perspective of current legislation,” emphasized Dauletalin.
At the same time, Dauletalin instructed regional trade union center leaders to continue active explanatory work within labor collectives.
“Raising legal awareness among rank-and-file trade union members and adhering to legal procedures in resolving disputes are key to stable worker-employer relations. Informational and explanatory work at enterprises must continue as part of the Federation’s campaigns such as ‘How Are You, Primary Union?’ ‘Labor Consultations,’ and educational trainings and seminars,” reminded the FPRK Chairman.
Workplace Safety:
The Chairman also highlighted the persistent issue of workplace injuries in enterprises across the country. According to FPRK data, in the first 10 months of this year, 958 people were affected in 852 workplace accidents at Kazakhstani enterprises, with 140 fatalities.
“Trade unions maintain their own statistics on workplace injuries. Conducting trade union monitoring helps address one of the pressing issues in labor safety – the concealment of accidents. This work must also continue actively at all enterprises where FPRK primary trade union organizations operate,” noted Dauletalin.
Closing:
Concluding the meeting, the FPRK Chairman instructed trade union center leaders to review all current agenda items at Coordination Council meetings with the participation of regional trade union activists.
