Results of “Nagyz aru”: Trade union skills to be applied in everyday work

On Wednesday, January 22, the three-day seminar “Nagyz Aru – Real Woman” concluded. Organized by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FTURK) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the seminar gathered female workers from FTURK member organizations across all regions of Kazakhstan.

On the final day, participants discussed effective ways to communicate their work to a wider audience. Gulmira Karakozova, Director of the FTURK Media Center, shared key insights on successful communication. She emphasized the need for trade unions to provide high-quality, reliable, and timely information about their activities.

“Building strong relationships with journalists and media representatives is crucial for increasing visibility. Equally important is the development of social media accounts as an effective communication channel. In today’s digital age, every trade union member should cultivate public speaking skills—no one knows your work better than you, so no one can talk about it better,” Karakozova noted.

She provided guidance on how to present information clearly and engagingly.

Participants received practical recommendations on creating news content, identifying key information hooks, and writing compelling texts. They also practiced public speaking skills, including interviews, and explored modern online promotion tools, such as multimedia content creation.

The attendees highlighted the high practical value of the seminar and the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues.

Gulnara Zhumageldieva, Vice Chair of FTURK, thanked the participants for their active engagement and encouraged them to always strive for self-realization, support trade union initiatives, and apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their workplaces.

At the conclusion of the event, all participants received certificates of completion and shared their impressions of the seminar.

Speaker Yana Lukpanova stated that the seminar’s main objectives—discussing FTURK’s strategic initiatives, exploring best trade union practices, and promoting working professions—had been successfully achieved.

“The seminar featured a powerful motivational component that encouraged both personal and career growth. It included training on labor law application, GPT chat utilization, contributions to culture and science, achievements in agriculture, and overcoming gender stereotypes. It was a well-rounded, deep, and truly outstanding seminar. I sincerely thank the organizers for delivering such a productive, relevant, and valuable event,” said Lukpanova.

Another participant, Gulnur Uteulina, Analytical Control Engineer at TNK Kazchrome (Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant Branch), was particularly moved by the seminar’s emphasis on women’s resilience and dedication. “This seminar brought together diverse life stories. We are all different, yet we share the same goal! The event highlighted the vital role of trade unions and their significant contributions. We saw how fragile women overcome hardships and remain devoted to their work. The seminar filled us with knowledge and motivation! I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with my colleagues,” she remarked.

Marina Kharchuk, Technician at Pavlodar VRD (Kamkor Wagon LLP), described the seminar as both insightful and highly relevant, especially in the context of the Year of Working Professions. “This seminar left a deep impression on me. It was an extremely relevant and useful format that allowed us to better understand the importance of working professions in the modern world. The speakers inspired us with their examples, and the discussions demonstrated just how essential these professions are for economic and social development. I particularly appreciated the focus on practical skills and career prospects in this field,” she shared.
