The meeting with the trade union activists of the Kostanay region was the final event in the program of the working visit of the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, Satybaldy Dauletalin, to this region.
Irina Aronova, the Chairwoman of the Trade Union Center of Kostanay region, reported on the activities of the territorial trade union association and the implementation of the tasks for the upcoming year.
“A key focus of the Trade Union Center’s work is active cooperation with social partners and strengthening intra-union collaboration on issues related to the protection of the rights and interests of workers in the Kostanay region. One of the effective initiatives is the ‘Enbek’ parliamentary group, established in the regional maslikhat upon the initiative of the Federation of Trade Unions,” said Irina Aronova.
In a show of gratitude, flood victims from the village of Altynsarino in the Kostanay district, Zhaniya Alshinbaeva and Erasyl Kazibaev, visited the Trade Union Center of Kostanay region to personally express their thanks for the support provided by the Federation of Trade Unions during last year’s floods.
“When the floodwaters came, we were not forgotten and left helpless. The Federation of Trade Unions helped us through those difficult days by providing us with shelter free of charge. For an entire month, we lived and recovered our health in the trade union sanatorium ‘Sosnovy Bor.’ The free accommodation and medical services offered at the sanatorium helped us restore our physical and emotional balance after experiencing the flood. I am extremely grateful, and I came here specifically to personally thank you,” said educator Zhaniya Alshinbaeva to Satybaldy Dauletalin.
“The trade union youth immediately began building embankments as soon as the flood started. Our young people made a significant contribution to mitigating the effects of the flood,” said Erasyl Kazibaev, leader of the youth council “Keleshek.” He also showed a video with a message of gratitude from his 90-year-old grandmother, who also found refuge in the “Sosnovy Bor” sanatorium during the flood.
“Solidarity and mutual assistance are fundamental values of our trade unions. We could not stand aside. The Federation of Trade Unions collected over 225 million tenge in material aid and 14 million tenge in humanitarian support. For those who lost their homes, 45 certificates for household appliances were distributed. The trade unions not only provided financial support but also moral support, offering rest and rehabilitation in trade union sanatoria, where 214 people were accommodated,” explained the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan in response to the residents’ gratitude.
Speaking to the regional trade union activists, Satybaldy Dauletalin detailed the initiatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan to amend legislation to improve the welfare of workers, including annual wage indexing, ensuring safe working conditions, and the progressive development of social partnership. He emphasized that the success of the planned activities for the Year of Skilled Professions would largely depend on the unity of the trade union activists.
“Today, the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan unites 23 industry unions and 18 territorial trade union associations. This includes over 16,000 primary trade union organizations, representing 1.7 million union members. They are all part of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan. The effectiveness of the tasks set for 2025, declared by the President as the Year of Skilled Professions, depends on the coordinated work of all these structures,” noted Satybaldy Dauletalin.
The Trade Union Center of Kostanay region coordinates the activities of 11 territorial structures of sectoral and local trade unions, consisting of 850 primary trade union organizations with a total of 80,000 members.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan thanked their Kostanay colleagues for actively promoting the interests of workers and recognized their efforts with Certificates of Honor.
