On Wednesday, April 16, in Chișinău, the ILO Regional Conference continued under the theme “The Role of Trade Union Training in the Modernization and Strengthening of Trade Union Structures.” The conference brought together representatives of national trade union centers from Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and other regions.
The second day’s program began with presentations from delegations who shared their experiences in negotiating with employers, legal protection of union members, and the development of training centers.
As part of the conference, a panel session was held on “Training Strategies as a Key Prerequisite for Effective Trade Union Activity: Discussing Challenges and Opportunities.”
Participants were divided into working groups to discuss key topics: active training – the role of trainers and lecturers; who is being trained and in what; training for women and youth activists – specific approaches and the sustainable development of trade union schools and educational centers; funding programs; analytical approaches; and assessing the outcomes of training.
The session on training analysis and outcomes was moderated by Lyazzat Eszhanova, a representative of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan and Director of the FPRK Training Center.
During the discussions, participants exchanged best practices, identified development priorities, and highlighted major challenges. Special attention was paid to assessing the needs of union members, adapting educational programs, and implementing digital solutions.
The day concluded with a final discussion on the priorities of international cooperation and the formulation of recommendations for further joint work in the field of trade union education. The outcomes were summarized by Igor Zubcu, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova.
“The conference became an effective platform for sharing knowledge, experience, and strengthening the solidarity of the trade union movement in the region. The best practices of trade union training presented by colleagues are a valuable exchange for all national trade union centers participating in the conference,” said Igor Zubcu.
The conference participants plan to compile all proposals from national trade union centers and develop joint recommendations.
