The delegation of the FTURK takes part in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference

On Sunday, June 1, on the eve of the official opening of the 113th session of the International Labor Conference, the delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by the Chairman of the FTURK Satybalda Dauletalin took part in the meeting of member organizations of the International Trade Union Confederation and in the general meeting of the workers’ group in Geneva.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Director of the Bureau of Workers of the ILO AKTRAV Maria Helena Andre noted that trade union leaders from all over the world gathered in Geneva these days. According to her, fair progress has been made in the gender distribution of the delegates of the session. Maria Helena Andre also spoke about the geopolitical and economic situation on the eve of the next world labor forum.

“Whenever we meet at the annual session of the International Labour Conference, unfortunately, the world does not get better.

Technology development, climate change – aggravate the labor situation. Economic instability, geopoliticization certainly affects the world order in the field of labor, threatens human rights, the rights of trade unions. Democratic principles are threatened by new challenges in the field of work. Today, the entire UN system, including the International Labor Organization, is focusing on improving the effectiveness of maintaining stability for people,” said the Director of the ILO Workers’ Bureau AKTRAV.

According to her, the labor market institution feels all the negative consequences of the changes.

“Poverty, vulnerable workers, problems of the able-bodied population, especially youth and women, migrants, workers in the informal economy – all are subject to this impact. The development of new technologies, the climate crisis force us to work in a new way in order to protect the rights of workers, to fight for decent working conditions. We gathered to lay the foundation for sustainable peace together,” Maria Helena Andre addressed the participants of the meeting.

During the event, the participants discussed the agenda of the 113th session of the International Labor Conference.

It is planned that at the 2025 session of the Conference, delegates from governments, employers and employees from 187 ILO member states will discuss topical topics for the labor sphere: new international standards for the protection of workers from biological hazards in the industrial environment, decent work in the platform economy and innovative approaches to promoting the transition from the informal to the formal economy.

During the meeting, the chairman of the workers’ group was elected at the session of the International Labour Conference. The participants of the meeting entrusted this mission to the trade union leader from the Netherlands, Katlin Paske.
