World Day of social justice

On February 20, the United Nations observes the World Day of Social Justice to combat poverty, unemployment, and inequality.
This is an international day dedicated to promoting equal opportunities, human rights, and social cooperation worldwide.

Social justice is one of the main priorities of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which includes 24 sectoral and 18 regional trade union associations, covering approximately 2 million trade union members and 16,500 primary trade union organizations.

For us, social justice is a principle of societal structure based on the rights, freedoms, and equal opportunities for all citizens, as well as the fair distribution of resources and benefits.

It ensures decent living conditions, access to education and healthcare, protection of human rights, and helps minimize social inequality.

The key aspects of social justice include:
Human Rights: Respecting the dignity of every member of society and upholding civil, political, and economic rights.
Decent Work: Ensuring fair pay, safe working conditions, and protection of employees’ rights.
Equal Opportunities: Eliminating barriers to social advancement regardless of gender, race, or social background, and providing access to quality education and employment.
Fair Distribution: Mechanisms such as progressive taxation and social security to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor.
