The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of the explanation of the main provisions of the President’s Message on five social initiatives, conducts complex socio-political activities throughout Kazakhstan.
Today in Astana the scientific and practical conference “Labor market: world tendencies, problems and prospects” was organized by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Abdirayim noted in the report that with a low growth of the world economy, unemployment in the world exceeded 200 million mark.
According to the International Labor Organization, the world has a deficit of around 62 million people. Unemployment among young people is 2 times higher than the average for the population, and among women, it is 26% higher than for men. The wages of women are still 20% lower than those of men. 313 million working people in the world live on $ 1.25 per day.
Despite the employment programs in Kazakhstan, the unemployment rate for the past 5 years has been consistently maintained at 5%, with a high proportion of the self-employed population (one-third of the total number of able-bodied population). The share of female and youth unemployment is high.
With an actual surplus of labor resources, there is a hidden labor migration from the southern borders of Kazakhstan. Another problem is the outflow of qualified Kazakhstani workers outside the country.
Kazakhstan’s trade unions attach great hopes to five social initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev that will allow citizens small and medium-sized businesses to increase their contribution to the development of our country’s economy, will promote the increase of productive employment of the population.
Famous economists, experts and public opinion leaders spoke at the conference.
