On August 3, 2018, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the trade union center of Astana City held an Open Doors Day dedicated to the day of mediation.
The event was attended by judges of the City Court, workers of the Federation of Trade Unions of the RK, trade union organizations of Astana City, professional mediators: Usipbekova Zh.Zh – Head of the Sector of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, coordinator of the project “Tatulasu Kazmedia”, Suyuundukova L.K. – Judge of the Baikonur District Court of the city of Astana etc.
Within the framework of the Open Door Day, the Federation of Trade Unions of the RK together with the trade union center of Astana hosted the reception of citizens by professional mediators of the Federation of Trade Unions of the RK on labour legislation issues, settlement of labor disputes in the order mediation, legal assistance to trade unions.
The aim of the event is to promote and develop the Institute of Mediation as a social tool for resolving labor and social disputes of citizens.
As it is known, on August 5, 2011 The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Mediation” came into force which became a landmark event for the whole legal system of Kazakhstan contributing to the further development of institutions of civil society and strengthening the foundations State of law.
In order to implement the signed memorandum of cooperation between the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan of March 19, 2018 in the territorial associations of Trade Unions Federation of RK were established cabinets of mediation as well as the centers of Conciliation of the Parties with the participation of professional mediators, psychologists, lawyers, notaries.
In honor of the day of mediation in all trade union centers of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held seminars, round tables, and open days.
The events conducted by the mediation offices and conciliation centers of the parties of the Federation of Trade Unions of the RK were directed to the development of the Institute of Mediation as a mechanism of prevention, settlement of labour and social disputes, pre-trial settlement of disputes. There were shown ways of popularization the Institute of Mediation among the population as a social and alternative way to resolve conflicts and disputes without the participation of courts and law enforcement agencies.
