On may 9, representatives of trade Union organizations of the Karaganda region of the Federation of trade unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the solemn event dedicated to the victory DAY.
During the difficult years of the war Karaganda region sent to the front about 45 000 of its sons and daughters.
For military merit, courage and bravery were awarded to 6587 Karaganda, 35 of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The fertile land of Saryarka raised 15 full knights of the order of soldier’s Glory.
During the great Patriotic war Karaganda miners produced more than 45 thousand tons of coal. In total, 43 thousand people worked underground, including 12 thousand women.
The solemn event was attended by Halyk Kaharmany, Hero of the Soviet Union, the first cosmonaut of Kazakhstan – Toktar Aubakirov.
