SATYBALDY DAULETALIN: “THE REFERENDUM IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PEOPLE TO DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF THE COUNTRY THEMSELVES”

Today, on May 18, under the leadership of the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybalda Dauletalin, a meeting of the Republican Headquarters of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan on public support for the Referendum was held.
Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the FTURK Satybaldy Dauletalin noted the key role of the trade union movement in informing workers about the proposed amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and strengthening responsibility for the future of the country in the minds of citizens.

“The upcoming referendum is an important step for our country. The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as the largest public organization protecting the rights and interests of workers, is interested in holding a free popular vote aimed at expressing the will of the people in shaping state policy. We all understand that the Referendum is a unique opportunity for the people to determine the future of our country for themselves,” stressed Satybaldy Dauletalin.
As the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions noted, the Constitution is a contract between the government and the people.
“The government, represented by the Head of State, took this step so that the people could fully express their will, thereby giving a new impetus to the development of the most important democratic values – the rights and freedoms of a citizen. This is a big step towards building a New Kazakhstan,” Satybaldy Dauletalin said.
According to him, on May 6 of this year, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan defined its clear position in an Appeal to the members of the trade union, in which it announced the beginning of work on objective information and explanation of the proposed constitutional reforms to the population.
On May 6, the Republican Headquarters began working in the Federation of Trade Unions, and its regional representative offices in all regions.
In order to effectively coordinate the activities of the headquarters, a unified work plan was approved, which provides for a series of meetings of trade union leaders with labor collectives of all industries.
Today, the participants of the online meeting summed up some results of the work of the headquarters and outlined further measures to explain the constitutional reform in labor collectives.

In total, the Republican Headquarters and its branches will hold about 2 thousand awareness-raising events across the country.
According to the head of the regional headquarters, chairman of the Professional Center of Pavlodar region Dinara Aitzhanova, the regional headquarters, together with other public organizations, conducts a balanced information policy, expanding the coverage of the population of the region with information trainings.

Chairman of the Karaganda regional headquarters for Public support of the referendum, Chairman of the Trade Union Center Bolat Zhumabekov expressed the initiative to participate not only in explaining the reform, but also to organize the headquarters of observers from trade unions within the framework of the activities of district and precinct election commissions.
As the head of the Almaty regional headquarters, the chairman of the Trade Union Center Zauresh Umirbayeva told colleagues, 40 meetings were held out of 200 planned events covering about 3.5 thousand members of the trade union. Up to 13 events are held daily in primary trade union organizations of Almaty.
Nurlan Uteshev, Head of the Republican Headquarters of the FTURK for supporting the referendum, Deputy Chairman of the FTURK, stressed the importance of information exchange between regional headquarters.

“The activity of regional headquarters with the involvement of trade union members – people of various professions – is an indicator of the effective work of trade union organizations with labor collectives. Over the next two weeks, we intend to involve representatives of all 16 thousand primary trade union organizations of the Federation in this work,” Nurlan Uteshev shared his plans.
Thanking his colleagues for their active explanatory work, the Chairman of the FTURK Satybaldy Dauletalin noted that in order to carry out extensive explanatory work on constitutional amendments, it is necessary to use all trade union dialogue platforms, including meetings within the framework of the campaign “How are you, primary?”.

“Trade unions are the most democratic organization, which is represented by employees of various industries. The task of the professional leaders is to convey to each member of the trade union the importance of civil responsibility in making decisions on constitutional changes. The future of our country depends on what choice we make,” concluded Satybaldy Dauletalin.
