On Thursday, November 24, a seminar for trade union activists of the oil industry of Kazakhstan started at the central office of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Within two days, representatives of oil trade unions will discuss ways to modernize trade union activities and improve social and labor relations, based on the main aspects of the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev dated September 01, 2022 “A just state. One nation. A prosperous society.”
Welcoming colleagues representing all oil-producing regions, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Branch Trade Union of the Oil and Gas Complex Sultan Kaliyev congratulated trade union activists on the victory of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the presidential elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He noted that by joining the People’s Coalition, the FTURK supported the policy of the current Head of State to carry out democratic transformations in the country, including in the social and labor sphere.
“The modernization of the state, initiated by President Tokayev, is also aimed at transforming social and labor relations in the country. This is a very topical issue that has been initiated by the Federation of Trade Unions and its member organizations for several years. The President listens to the opinion of trade unions and supports democratic initiatives initiated by trade union leaders,” Sultan Kaliyev said.
The moderator of the seminar, an expert on labor relations of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Eszhanova acquainted the participants with the two-day program and called for a direct exchange of views and experience in the activities of trade union organizations of the oil industry.
The lecturers were heads of departments of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In particular, the Director of the Department of Legal Support Timur Nugmanov drew the attention of the seminar participants to the issues of the main accents of the President’s Address concerning the development of production, including labor relations.
Deputy Chairman of the SEA and Joint Venture Committee of the Federation of Trade Unions Aizhan Ibraeva spoke about the specifics of the interaction of trade unions with employers, negotiating and signing collective agreements and, in general, the development of social partnership in her speech.
Labor relations expert of the Federation of Trade Unions Lyazzat Eszhanova elaborated on the topic of prevention and resolution of labor disputes and conflicts. Under her leadership, the seminar participants considered the issues of organizing the work of the conciliation commission, as well as discussed specific labor cases from trade union practice.
“The article-by-article explanation and the practice of applying labor legislation, the joint analysis of labor cases allow the participants of the seminar to delve into the essence of the issues in a more focused way. As a rule, the knowledge and skills acquired during such brainstorming sessions are very successfully applied by our students directly in the course of their activities at the enterprise,” Lyazzat Eszhanova noted.
On Friday, the seminar will continue its work, its participants will consider topical issues of occupational safety and health, identify the main qualities of successful trade union leadership and share their skills in the information space.
