EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE HAS APPROVED THE INITIATIVES OF THE FTURK TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION AMONG TRADE UNIONS IN CENTRAL ASIAN COUNTRIES

On Thursday, May 11, Satybaldy Dauletalin, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held another meeting with the Executive Committee of FTURK.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, Gulnara Zhumageldiyeva, informed the members of the Executive Committee about the upcoming III meeting of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian countries, which will be held in Astana on May 19-20 of this year.

The upcoming forum is planned to discuss modern trends in youth trade union policies in Central Asian countries, approaches to developing a unified communication strategy, prospects for tourism development, and issues related to strengthening regional cooperation among trade unions in the region.

Speaking about the role of the Council, Satybaldy Dauletalin, the Chairman of the FTURK, emphasized that as the presiding party, the Federation of Trade Unions intends to strengthen its status as an organization on the international stage.

“The Council, created at the initiative of national labor centers, intends to fully promote the interests of workers in our region. The voice of the 15 million workers of Central Asia must be heard by the international trade union movement. At the III meeting, members of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asia will discuss issues concerning the working youth, mutual exchange of experiences and information, and outline prospects for implementing joint programs for the well-being of workers and exploring the tourism potential of participating countries,” emphasized Satybaldy Dauletalin.

The members of the Executive Committee supported the agenda, which also includes the organization of the II International Mini-Football Tournament among the trade unions of Central Asian countries.

It is important to mention that the Council was established in November 2021. Since January 2023, Satybaldy Dauletalin, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, has been serving as the Secretary-General of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asia (CTUCA). As of today, the Plan of Key Activities of CTUCA has been approved, the organization’s logo has been developed, and a unified information and communication platform, the CTUCA website (ctuca.org), has been created.

During the meeting, the members of the Executive Committee approved the provisions of the Methodological Council of the FTURK on trade union education matters.

The Methodological Council is being established with the aim of implementing the decisions of the collective bodies of the FTURK in the field of trade union education development, the formation of a unified educational space within the FTURK, conducting analysis of current issues in the trade union movement, studying the practices of training centers of national trade union associations, the ILO, IOM, and member organizations of the FTURK.

Today, the members of the Executive Committee also unanimously supported the organization of the annual republican media contest “Enbek adamyn ulyqtaw” (Promoting Labor). The contest has been held for the third year and includes five categories: “Best Journalist,” “Best Information Partner,” “Best Photojournalist,” “Best Trade Union Information Resource,” and “Best Trade Union Press Service.”

Representatives of the media, information specialists from member organizations of the Federation, and photographers participate in the contest every year.

The media contest “Еңбек адамын ұлықтау” will kick off on May 15, and its results will be announced on October 10 as part of the celebration of Trade Union Day.

In addition, the members of the Executive Committee have decided to convene the General Council on June 30, 2023. During the meeting, the activities of the FTURK and its member organizations for the first half of the year, as well as the progress in implementing the Activity Strategy of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2025, “Towards Unity, Justice, and Development,” will be reviewed and evaluated.

In conclusion of the meeting, Satybaldy Dauletalin, the Chairman of the FTPRK, called on colleagues to actively participate in the preparation and organization of the III meeting of the CTUCA and to unite efforts in forming new initiatives for the improvement of labor and trade union legislation.
