KAZAKHSTAN AND AZERBAIJAN TRADE UNION LEADERS DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR REGIONAL CO-OPERATION

Satybaldy Dauletalin, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, General Secretary of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asia, met with his colleague Sattar Mokhbaliyev, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, at the international seminar “The Role of Trade Unions in Creating Green Jobs” in Baku.
The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral and regional cooperation of national trade union centres.
Chairman of the FTUC Satybaldy Dauletalin thanked Sattar Mokhbaliev, who is also the Vice-President of the ITUC/VERS for supporting the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan when considering the issue of restoration of the FTUC membership in the International Trade Union Confederation.
“Democratic transformations in the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan became the basis for further progressive development of the trade union community in the country. Today, the FTUC is the largest public institution promoting the interests and protecting the rights of workers, based on fundamental international standards. The ongoing changes are supported by the President of the country, who paid attention to our trade union initiatives concerning the minimum wage and the development of a methodology for the amount of the minimum wage.

In turn, Sattar Mokhbaliyev, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan – Vice-President of the ITUC/VERS, stressed that relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have a common history, calling them “fraternal”, and cooperation between national trade union centres and with international partners will be strengthened further.
“We support the development and strengthening of regional co-operation between trade union associations. For our part, we are always open to the exchange of views and accumulated experience. With the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan we have common tasks and goals, so we are “for” the implementation of further joint projects,” Sattar Mokhbaliyev said.
The international seminar, which was attended by trade union leaders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, has finished its work in Baku. The seminar considered the role of trade unions in creation of green jobs and prospects of implementation of relevant trade union projects.
