TRADE UNIONS AND MASLIKHATS: “OUR COMMON GOAL IS TO INCREASE THE WELL-BEING OF THE WORKER”

As part of a working trip to Shymkent, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Satybaldy Dauletalin, met with the chairman of the city maslikhat, Bahadir Narymbetov, and the deputy group for the protection of social and labor rights and the development of social partnership “Enbek”.

The Enbek deputy group included 5 members of the representative body: from the AMANAT party – deputies Albina Elshieva, Talgat Baltabaev, Abzal Zeinetaev, from the Ak Zhol party – Noyan Tolegenov, from the Auyl party – Nuraly Davletyarov.

Welcoming the delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the chairman of the city maslikhat, Bahadir Narymbetov, noted that the deputy group “Enbek” was created in June of this year at the suggestion of the chairman of the Trade Union Center of the city of Shymkent, Bauyrzhan Alteev, in order to develop cooperation between the deputy corps and trade unions to protect labor rights and interests of workers.

Bahadir Narymbetov expressed his readiness to work together with trade unions on solving topical issues in the social and labor sphere.

Chairman of the FPRK RK Satybaldy Dauletalin, expressing gratitude to the members of the local representative body for supporting the trade union initiative, noted the special importance of the effective promotion of social justice issues for the Man of Labor.

During the meeting, the Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan spoke about the activities of the Federation of Trade Unions, the most important achievements in protecting workers and outlined a number of priority areas for joint work based on the provisions of the election program “15 steps to building a Just Kazakhstan”, adopted by the trade unions at the last elections in March this year .

First of all, he announced an initiative on the joint work of trade unions with the deputy group in the field of improving wages.

“Our common goal is to improve the well-being of the Working Man. The Federation of Trade Unions has developed proposals for improving legislation in terms of raising the minimum wage in accordance with international standards, introducing annual indexation of wages to inflation, developing a methodology for setting the size of the minimum wage,” the Chairman of the FPRK emphasized.

As the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions emphasized, over 2.5 years there were 272 collective disputes in the country due to specific systemic problems in the field of wages – low wages; disproportion in the wage system; lack of indexation of wages; non-compliance with safety and labor protection requirements; non-compliance by employers with the terms of collective agreements.

“We place great hopes on our cooperation in the development of social responsibility and the adoption of effective economic and social measures that meet the interests of ordinary workers,” said Satybaldy Dauletalin.

The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions also expressed his opinion on the need to develop cooperation in the field of ensuring safe working conditions and called on the social partners to develop joint mechanisms to prevent and minimize the risks of accidents at work.

Talgat Baltabaev, a member of the Enbek parliamentary group, speaking about joint work, also noted the relevance of issues of social stability at enterprises.

“An important step in cooperation between the maslikhat and trade unions should be the prevention of labor disputes and conflicts. We must direct our joint efforts to establish active feedback with the workers, promptly respond to their social and labor problems and solve them in a constructive way,” the deputy emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their commitment to using the joint potential and opportunities in order to follow the course of building a Just Kazakhstan and create a favorable basis for the life of the Man of Labor.
