On Friday, August 11, under the leadership of the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybalda Dauletalin, an expanded meeting of the Coordinating Council of the territorial Association of Trade Unions of Shymkent was held.
At the meeting, the trade union leaders of the southern megapolis were given specific tasks to expand the coverage of trade union membership, organize training for employees and employers on the practice of applying labor and trade union legislation and strengthen social partnership.
At the meeting, held in the format of an open dialogue, the trade union leaders of the region voiced several urgent problems and appealed to the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions with a request for assistance in solving them.
For example, the chairman of the branch of the Branch Trade Union of Workers of the Construction Complex and Housing and Communal Services, Abduraira Manakhov, reported on the current situation in LLP «LTD Turmys» and LLP «Shymkent Spetscomplex», whose leaders are hindering the initiative of workers to create trade union organizations at enterprises.
Having familiarized himself with the problem, Satybaldy Dauletalin noted that first this issue should be considered at a meeting of the city trilateral commission, and if no solution is found, it will be submitted to a meeting of the republican trilateral commission.
During the meeting, topical issues of increasing the role and improving the work of the city’s trade unions were also considered.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions stressed that all the issues raised at the meeting are on the agenda of the Federation of Trade Unions.
According to him, holding regular meetings with trade union activists in the regions makes it possible to establish feedback with employees and determine the tasks of trade unions for the future.
“The trade union is a unique public organization with a 120-year history that works for the benefit of the working people. The trade union appeared as a response to the demands and aspirations of society. The main idea of the trade union is social justice. The reforms carried out by the President, including the initiative to build a Fair Kazakhstan, immediately resonated with trade unions, which always choose the path of justice. This is the essence of our unanimous support for these reforms,” the Head of the Federation of Trade Unions said.
Satybaldy Dauletalin told the participants of the meeting about the important achievements of the Federation in the field of international cooperation.
First of all, we are talking about restoring the membership of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the International Trade Union Confederation.
“On July 1, we received an official letter on the restoration of the membership of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the International Trade Union Confederation. This is the result achieved thanks to the joint efforts of the Federation of Trade Unions and its member organizations over the past 3 years. Thanks to this status, we have the opportunity to participate fully in the international trade union movement,” the Chairman of the FTURK said.
He also announced the creation of an Organization of Trade Unions of Turkic countries.
“On July 29, in the city of Shusha of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the national trade union centers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the establishment of an Organization of Trade Unions of Turkic countries. The new international structure covers the interests of 48 million workers of our countries,” Satybaldy Dauletalin said.
During the meeting, the professional leaders of the region highly appreciated the work of the Federation aimed at developing international cooperation.
The Head of the FTURK made a special emphasis on the development of social partnership and improvement of working conditions of workers in all regions of the country on the example of the enterprise «JV «CASPIAN BITUMEN» in the Mangystau region.
The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions called on professional leaders to adopt and universally implement the experience of interaction between the employer and the trade union of the enterprise, aimed at improving the conditions and remuneration of employees.
“Our common goal is to improve the welfare of workers and protect their labor rights. There is still a lot of work to be done. At the same time, the chairmen of primary organizations should strengthen their information and explanatory work,” concluded Satybaldy Dauletalin.
According to the chairman of the Shymkent Trade Union Center Bauyrzhan Alteev, in the first half of 2023, 5 meetings of the Coordinating Council of the territorial association of trade unions were held, during which topical problems of the social and labor sphere of the metropolis and ways to solve them were considered.
