112th ILC ILO Session: A New Social Contract – A Common Goal

A delegation from the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by FTURK Chairman Satybaldy Dauletalin, is participating in the 112th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which is being held from June 3 to 14 in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the Conference, delegates representing workers, employers, and governments from 187 member states would discuss the report by ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo, “Towards a Renewed Social Contract.”

In addition, the participants of the 112th ILC session would address a wide range of issues, including the protection of workers from the effects of climate change and biological hazards in the workplace, the care economy, as well as fundamental principles and rights at work.

It is expected that the Conference would elect members of the ILO Governing Body for 2024–2027.

On the sidelines of the International Labour Conference, the FTURK delegation, led by Satybaldy Dauletalin, will hold meetings with ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo, Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) Maria Helena Andre, ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Beate Andrees, as well as representatives of international trade union centers.

One of the significant initiatives in the Year of Decent Work, declared by the FTURK General Council, will be the signing of a Roadmap to Promote Decent Work in Kazakhstan. This agreement will involve the International Labour Organization, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the National Confederation of Employers “Paryz.”

A key highlight of the working trip will be the participation of the Vice-President of the Pan-European Regional Council of the ITUC and Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Satybaldy Dauletalin, in the General Council meeting of the International Trade Union Confederation.

For reference: The International Labour Conference is the ILO’s highest decision-making body. It convenes annually in June, bringing together tripartite delegations from the Organization’s 187 member states. The Conference consists of a plenary session and technical committees. The Conference opens and closes with a plenary session; during the intermediate plenary sessions, all delegates can participate in the discussion of reports from the Chairperson of the Governing Body and the Director-General. The plenary session also performs the administrative and formal tasks of the Conference and may hold sessions to welcome high-level guests, including heads of state and government.
