Today, the Federation of Trade Unions held a meeting of the leadership of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan headed by the first Deputy of the FPRK Birzhan Nurymbetov with the American delegation led by the Assistant U.S. trade representative for the countries of South and Central Asia Mark Linskot.
Birzhan Nurymbetov acquainted the American guests with the trade union system of the FPRK and told about the main directions of activity at this stage.
The issues of further cooperation within the framework of the general system of Preferences (generalised system of preferences (GSP) and the issues reflected in the road map on implementation of the recommendations of the International Labour Organization were discussed at the meeting.
GSP in favor of developing countries is a system of concessional customs tariffs for goods exported by developing countries in the United States. Preferences (preferential rates of customs tariff) are granted to developing countries individually through the introduction of preferential customs duties on goods imported from developing countries by domestic legislation, without requiring any Reciprocal concessions by developing States.
The parties discussed the issues of improving the legislation on trade unions. FPRK were presented amendments to the national legislation necessary to bring into line with the ILO Convention № 87 “on Freedom of association and Protection of the right to organize”.
The representatives of the American side warmly expressed their gratitude for the detailed information provided and the openness of the dialogue.
