On May 13-14 this year in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) an international seminar “Socio-economic status of women and actions of trade unions on the implementation of gender equality approaches are held. The seminar is attended by representatives of the ILO, the ITUC, the CPSU and foreign trade Union organizations, deputies of the Majilis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and departments, members of the Council of women of the Federation of trade unions of Uzbekistan, chairmen of commissions on work with women.
From the Federation of trade unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan was attended by the Chairman of the Committee of socio-economic relations and social partnership Gulnara Jumageldiyev and Director of JSC “PAVLODARENERGOSERVIS” Inkara Ispulova. During the seminar, the experience of Uzbekistan on gender equality in the field of labor and trade unions was presented, and the experience of other countries was exchanged.
Gender equality is a necessary condition for the development of society and one of the main modern tasks in the field of human rights, social justice. Today, gender equality issues are of particular relevance, the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women is an important component of the UN sustainable development goals.
On the first day, the organizers of the seminar organized a tour of the sights of Samarkand for the participants. On the last day, the participants visited the Federation of trade unions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the trade Union sanatorium in Tashkent.
In conclusion, all participants of the International seminar noted the positive experience of countries in the field of gender equality and joined the fundamental Conventions of the International labour organization, all parties committed themselves to a policy of non-discrimination against women and support for men.
