CHAIRMAN OF THE FTURK: «PROMOTION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE IN THE NATURE OF THE TRADE UNIONS THEMSELVES»

On Friday, September 30, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin met with the chairmen of the primary trade union organizations of the armed forces of the country.

“The chairmen of the primary trade union organizations of the Branch Trade Union of Employees of the Armed Forces arrived in Astana from eight regions of the country to take part in a training seminar of the FTURK,” Chairman of the NGO “Trade Union of Employees of the Armed Forces, Other Troops and Military Formations” Torehan Yerdenbekov informed.

Addressing colleagues, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin noted the importance for the union of the welfare of its members.

“The task of the branch trade union is to preserve decent living and working conditions of our servicemen. In many respects, their successful service for the benefit of the whole people depends on how well the rights of our soldiers are protected,” the Chairman of the FTURK said.

Speaking about the domestic political situation, the Head of the FTURK stressed that the Federation of Trade Unions fully supports the course outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to build a Fair Kazakhstan.

“Promoting the principles of justice in the nature of the trade unions themselves. Our slogan “In unity towards justice and development” is our action plan. Therefore, in building a Fair Kazakhstan, the Federation and its member organizations should be at the forefront,” said Satybaldy Dauletalin.

According to him, the Federation and its member organizations, stating problems in the social and labor sphere, offer concrete solutions. At the same time, the initiatives of the FTURK are supported by the country’s leadership.

“At various venues, we have raised the issue of the need to develop a methodology for the formation of the minimum wage. The initiative of the Federation was supported by the President of the country in a Message to the people. Already next year, the government, on behalf of the Head of State, will provide this methodology. Today, through working groups in the Parliament and the Government, we are actively participating in the work on amendments and additions to the labor legislation. We believe that the annual indexation of wages to the level of inflation should be fixed at the legislative level, and employers should coordinate the issue of forming a wage fund with trade unions,” Satybaldy Dauletalin told colleagues.

The Chairman of the FTURK also noted that the leaders of primary trade union organizations, being at the forefront and being the main newsmakers of the trade union movement, should be strong and competitive.

“Professional development of trade union activists is one of the main directions in the activities of the Federation of Trade Unions. Negotiation process skills, the practice of applying labor and trade union legislation, leadership qualities need to be constantly improved. The Federation has a Trade Union Leader School, seminars and training are held on an ongoing basis. In the last two years alone, about a thousand such training seminars have been held, covering more than 46 thousand trade union members. We will continue this work on an ongoing basis. Strong trade union leaders on the ground are the key to the well–being of labor collectives and effective social partnership,” the Chairman of the FTURK said in conclusion.
