Trade Unions of Kazakhstan unite efforts to amend the Law about Trade Unions

Today in Astana in the building of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan for the first time was a meeting of the Republican associations of  the Trade unions: Federation of Trade Unions of the RK, Kazakhstan Confederation of Labour, Commonwealth of Trade unions of Kazakhstan “Amanat” with invitation of trade unionists of Kharkov L.N., Belkin S.L. and others as well as representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of RK.

The meeting was held with the participation of the head of Sector of Europe and Central Asia of the Bureau for work of Workers of the International Labour Organization Sergiusa Glovackasa, devoting to the introduction of amendments and additions to the law of the RK “on trade unions”.

Amendments to the national legislation are necessary to bring in accordance with the International Labour Organization Convention № 87 “On freedom of association and protection of the right to organize”.

According to the first deputy chairman of the FPRK Birzhan Nurymbetov, today’s meeting is an exceptional opportunity to develop a common position of all the unions of Kazakhstan.

In general, the participants of the meeting constructively demonstrated a common position on the need for changes and additions to the law.

It has been decided that the joint work of the republican unions ‘ associations on making amendments and additions to the law of the RK “on trade unions” in accordance with international standards will be continued in the framework of the Joint Working Group.
