The International Labour Organization and the Federation of Trade Unions of the RK held a seminar for the trade union society of Kazakhstan

Today in Astana opened a joint seminar for trade unions of Kazakhstan devoted to discussion of proposals on amendments and additions to the law of the RK “On trade unions” in order to bring it into conformity with the Convention of the International Organization Labour № 87 “On Freedom of association and protection of the right to organize”.

The seminar was organized by the International Labour Organization and the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan.

The International Labour Organization was represented at the seminar by authoritative experts: Gocha Alexandria, professional worker of the Decent Work Technical Support Group and ILO Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and Harri Taliga, international expert.

Kazakhstani trade unions represented the chairmen of sectoral and territorial trade unions of the FPRK, representatives of the Kazakhstan Confederation of Labor, the Commonwealth of Trade unions of Kazakhstan “Amanat” and other trade union associations.

At the Seminar Mr. Taliga presented an analysis of the Kazakhstani trade union legislation and non-conformity aspects in the prism of the Convention № 87 of the International Labour Organization

First Deputy chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Birzhan Nurymbetov acquainted participants with the proposed amendments to the law “on trade unions”, which are aimed at eliminating the comments of ILO experts, as well as on strengthening the guarantees of activities and expansion of trade union rights.

Under moderation Gocha Alexandria were considered important issues of changes in the legislation on trade unions and Labor Code of the RK, organization of trade unions, settlement of labour disputes and social partnership.

As before, in general the Kazakhstani participants of the seminar have demonstrated a constructive and unified position on the necessity of changes and additions to the national legislation.

The trade unions of Kazakhstan under the aegis of the FPRK will continue to work together to amend the Law on Trade unions.

Recall on July 23, 2018 for the first time on this issue was held a meeting of the Republican Unions associations: the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Confederation of Labour, the Commonwealth of Trade unions of Kazakhstan “Amanat” with the invitation of other trade union Leaders.
