The meeting was attended by Osman Timurtas, Director of the Department of international relations of MEMUR-SEN and Ugur Muftuoglu, consultant on international relations of MEMUR – SEN.

Turkish trade unionists were participants of the international conference “the role of trade unions in social and labor relations: Dialogue between East and West” held recently in Almaty.

There was a constructive and business conversation between FPRK and MEMUR-SEN on deepening cooperation, on the current state and prospects of development of trade unions of Kazakhstan and Turkey, on the need to create a single trade Union movement of Turkic-speaking countries.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation of trade unions of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin stressed that the Federation of trade unions of Kazakhstan in the context of globalization of labor relations activates participation in the process of securing the rights and freedoms of workers by ratifying the Convention adopted by the International labour organization (ILO).

To date, Kazakhstan has ratified 24 ILO conventions out of 189 existing ones, 8 of which are fundamental.

One of the evidences of the successful implementation of the cooperation Program between Kazakhstan and the ILO is the success of Kazakhstan in bringing the national legislation in line with international standards in the field of labor and strengthening the position of Kazakhstan in this international organization.

Among the existing ILO conventions affecting the essential rights and interests of workers, the Federation of trade unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan proposes to join five international conventions that will contribute to the improvement of labor and social legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, increase the legal protection and guarantees of workers of all categories.

Currently, the Federation of trade unions of Kazakhstan has sent a letter to the Government of Kazakhstan on the need to start procedural steps for the ratification of the above ILO conventions in accordance with the provisions of the Law “on international treaties of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

For his part, Osman Timurtas thanked his Kazakh colleagues for the warm welcome and hospitality in the cities of Almaty and Astana and noted that Kazakhstan and Turkey support each other’s initiatives in the international arena, make joint efforts to deepen the Turkic trade Union integration based on mutual friendship, brotherhood and trust.
