“HOW DO YOU LIVE, PRIMARY?”: THE LEADERSHIP OF THE FTURK MET WITH THE STAFF OF THE HIGHER AGRARIAN AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE OF THE WEST KAZAKHSTAN REGION

As part of the campaign “How do you live, primary?”, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions Nurlan Uteshev held an online meeting with members of the primary trade union organization of the Higher Agrarian and Technical College of the West Kazakhstan region.

The Higher Agrarian and Technical College is one of the educational institutions that train specialists in the agro-industrial, construction and oil and gas sectors.

According to the chairman of the primary trade union organization of the college, Ainur Kairlieva, currently 221 people work at the college, 79% of them (175 people) are members of the trade union. Since 2016, the institution has been a part of the West Kazakhstan branch of the Branch Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Kazakhstan.

According to Ainur Kairlieva, the social partnership of the trade union with the employer is built on the basis of a collective agreement for 2019 – 2022.

In accordance with the terms of the collective agreement, employees are provided with a number of social guarantees and benefits.

In particular, the document provides for financial assistance to an employee upon retirement, a one-time allowance for the burial of employees and their close relatives, material support for anniversaries, payment of 50% of the cost of sanatorium vouchers and other measures.

The college has a conciliation commission and a production council.

During the meeting, Director of the Higher Agrarian and Technical College Director Serik Mukhambetaliyev and Chairman of the West Kazakhstan branch of the Branch Trade Union of Education and Science Workers Marat Daupayev gave positive feedback on the work of the Branch Trade Union of Education and Science Workers.

In turn, the chairman of the Branch Trade Union of Education and Science Workers Aigul Mukasheva noted the significant results of the work of the regional branch in protecting the rights and interests of trade union members.

“In the first half of this year, we returned 191 million tenge to teachers. Last year, 263 illegally dismissed union members were reinstated, and this year – 24 employees. This is primarily the merit of the primary trade union organizations,” Aigul Mukasheva said.

The Chairman of the branch trade union stressed that the main task facing trade union leaders and activists is to form a high level of legal culture and improve the legal literacy of trade union personnel.

Summing up the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the FTURK Nurlan Uteshev also highly appreciated the work of the primary trade union organization of the Higher Agrarian and Technical College.

“The primary trade union organization is the basis of the trade union movement. Today’s meeting showed how the social partnership system works in practice. Every aspect of social partnership should play its own special role in this,” he said.

Nurlan Uteshev also touched upon the issues of increasing wages for employees of budgetary spheres from 2022 to 2025.

“In his Message to the people of Kazakhstan, which determines the strategic development of the country, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the special role of trade unions in promoting this initiative.  The Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan implements its strategic objectives. As you know, a forum of primary trade union organizations has recently been held. The forum identified the problems faced by primary trade union organizations. However, the successful implementation of these tasks in combination with the strategy depends on the activities of each trade union organization and the joint work of trade union bodies at different levels,” the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions added.
