THE TRADE UNION FEDERATIONS OF KAZAKHSTAN AND UZBEKISTAN ARE STRENGTHENING COOPERATION ON THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AT WORK

In the last days of October this year, a delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan (FTUU) headed by Chairman Kudratulla Rafikov visited the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan on its first official visit.

Welcoming colleagues from Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin noted that the Federation of Trade Unions is the most massive public organization in the country, uniting in its ranks about 2 million workers from more than 16 thousand primary trade union organizations. Today, the Federation of Trade Unions includes 23 branch trade unions and 17 territorial unions of trade unions.

The Chairman of the FTURK acquainted the guests with the main activities of the Federation: contribution to the development of social partnership, innovations in the protection of labor and socio-economic rights of employees of enterprises and organizations, new formats for improving direct communication with primary trade union organizations, the educational marathon of the FTURK.

As the Head of the FTURK noted, another equally important area of activity of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan is cooperation with international organizations and foreign trade unions, including the ILO and the ITUC.

It should be recalled that recently the delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid a working visit to the International Labor Organization in Geneva and the International Trade Union Confederation in Brussels. As a result of a constructive dialogue with the heads of these organizations, agreements were reached on the implementation of a number of joint projects.

Speaking about relations with colleagues from the Central Asian region, the Chairman of the FTURK stressed that over the years of independence, the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan has made an invaluable contribution to creating conditions that ensure a decent life and free human development, increasing incomes of the population. The FTUU is the largest public organization in Uzbekistan, consisting of 14 branch and 14 territorial trade union organizations uniting 6 million workers.

“It is gratifying that fraternal trade union relations have developed between our organizations. Uzbekistan is a fraternal country for us, and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan is our important partner in the international trade union movement,” the Head of the FTURK noted.

According to Satybalda Dauletalin, an important indicator of good-neighborly and fraternal relations is the assistance provided in May 2020 to residents of the Maktaaral district of Turkestan region affected by the flood. The head of the FTURK thanked his colleague, Chairman of the FTUU Kudratulla Rafikov for the solidarity shown. Recall, by mutual agreement, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan provided solidarity charitable assistance to residents of flooded settlements in the amount of 60 million tenge.

Thanking the leadership of the FTURK for the warm welcome, the Head of the Uzbek delegation, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan Kudratulla Rafikov called the current visit a historic event in the development of relations between the two national trade unions.

“The Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan supports all the initiatives of our Kazakh colleagues. The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the leader of the trade union movement, which does real things to support workers. And today’s meeting is the beginning of a great road, a new era, which will become the source of mutually beneficial interest between our member organizations – branch and territorial trade unions of the two countries,” the Chairman of the FTUU stressed.

Earlier, nine years ago, memoranda of cooperation were signed between the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, and during the current visit of the Uzbek delegation, the largest public organizations of the two countries reached a new level of bilateral cooperation.

Based on the importance of combining efforts to ensure the protection of the rights and interests of workers, trade union rights and freedoms, worthy of the place and role of trade unions in society within the framework of national legislation, the Heads of the FTURK and the FTUU signed an Agreement on cooperation between the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main direction of cooperation between the Parties is defined as the protection of the economic and social interests of a person of wage labor on issues of remuneration, the development of forms of social partnership, collective and contractual regulation of social and labor relations, the organization of sanatorium and resort recreation and recreation, as well as the promotion of general and medical tourism.

“Today our organizations have reached a new level of bilateral cooperation. I am sure that the Agreement on Mutual Cooperation we are signing will be the basis for the realization of all the goals we have set, for the benefit of the workers of both countries. We highly appreciate the established friendly relations between our fraternal trade union organizations, and we hope for further mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation with the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. Our common goal is to ensure decent work and protect the labor rights of workers,” Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin stressed.

“My colleagues from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and I initiated the creation of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian countries, the corresponding memorandum is planned to be signed in Tashkent in November,” Kudratulla Rafikov said.

During the visit, the delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan also got acquainted with the work of the FPRK front office. The Front Office opened on the eve of the Day of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan is another step of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan towards ordinary members of the trade union.

The 24/7 format of the trade union Legal clinic “Zan Cliniqys” allows you to provide effective legal support to employees. As part of the Front Office, the youth coworking center “Enbek Space” is working, contributing to the discovery of the potential of working youth.” The guests are also presented with new project offices – the Reconciliation Center “Tatylasy Point” and the Training Center of the FTURK “Bilim Center”.
