COOPERATION OF COAL MINERS’ TRADE UNIONS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION

On October 11, 2022, the city of Ekibastuz was visited by representatives of the International Labor Organization to meet with member organizations of the Kazugleprof Coal Miners’ Trade Union. This meeting was attended by delegations of trade unions of the coal mine “Bogatyr Komir” and the coal miners’ union “Korgau”.

Attending the meeting, the Chief Specialist on the activities of workers of the ILO Bureau for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Gocha Alexandria, spoke about international conventions in the field of occupational safety and industrial safety, as well as other aspects of the activities of the International Labor Organization.

During the conversation, the participants exchanged views on the most exciting issues for miners, and shared their practical experience. It was noted that it is necessary to comprehensively study and apply the world experience in the field of protection of workers’ rights, monitor the implementation of the provisions of international conventions ratified by Kazakhstan, and take more active initiatives to improve labor legislation in the interests of workers.

The participants of the meeting visited the Bogatyr coal mine, which impressed with its size, as well as a training center, where they got acquainted with the training system of the mine workers.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue business cooperation.
