A COUNTRY PRESENTATION ON THE INTERACTION OF TRADE UNIONS OF KAZAKHSTAN WITH THE UN WAS PRESENTED IN BAKU

The sub-regional Academy of Labor in the field of sustainable development “Policy and actions of trade unions in the field of sustainable development” continues its work in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Representatives of national trade union centers of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Uzbekistan take part in training seminars and trainings.

On Wednesday, November 23, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulnara Zhumageldieva presented to the participants of the educational program a country presentation “Interaction of the trade union movement with the United Nations on the SDGs”.

“Kazakhstan, as a country that has committed itself to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, is actively working in all directions, contributing to the successful achievement of global goals. Five working groups have been created in the following areas: “people”, “planet”, “prosperity”, “peace”, “partnership”. In July of this year, within the framework of the UN High–level Political Forum, Kazakhstan presented the second Voluntary National Review on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals,” Gulnara Zhumageldiyeva noted.

The Deputy Chairman of the FTURK elaborated on the activities of the Federation of Trade Unions and its member organizations to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in Kazakhstan.

The delegations of Azerbaijan, Moldova and Uzbekistan also held their country presentations.

The Chief Specialist of the ILO Bureau for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Gocha Alexandria, shared with the participants of the international training the main aspects of ensuring labor rights for a fair economy and society.  International expert Evelyn Toth made a report on “The future of trade unions and youth actions in support of the SDGs”.

At the end of the second day of training, the delegations shared their views and experiences in the third interactive session “SDGs 5 and 10 – Ensuring equality”.

Recall that the Academy participants include representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Deputy Chairman of the FPRK Zhumageldieva G.A., Head of the Department of the FPRK Kenzhebulat S.K., chairmen of branch trade unions Esengazin K.Sh., Abishev A.G., Deputy Chairman of the branch trade union Muratalieva G.A., representative of the Territorial union of trade unions of  Pavlodar region Ivanova M.A..

The training of representatives of national trade union centers is organized by the International Training Center of the ILO.
