SATYBALDY DAULETALIN: “THE LABOR MAN’S REQUEST FOR JUSTICE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY REAL DEEDS”

Today, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the leadership of Chairman Satybalda Dauletalin, held an expanded meeting with the participation of heads of sectoral and territorial trade unions.

Welcoming his colleagues, Satybaldy Dauletalin noted two important events that took place in the second half of November and congratulated his colleagues on the overall victory in the presidential elections, noting the significant contribution of all member organizations to the election campaign of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the FTURK, Nurlan Uteshev, reporting on the results of work during the electoral period, FPRC member organizations held 335 meetings with labor collectives with a total coverage of more than 20 thousand people. In addition, according to him, a large–scale work has been carried out in the information field – 535 materials have been released on social networks with coverage of more than 70 thousand users.

The second important event was the restoration of the membership of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the International Trade Union Confederation. This decision was made on November 17 at the V World Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation in Australia.

The Chairman of the FTURK stressed that the restoration of membership in the largest international organization was preceded by the painstaking and consistent work of the Federation of Trade Unions and its member organizations.

Gulnara Zhumageldieva, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke in detail about cooperation with international partners.

Summarizing the speeches of colleagues, the Chairman of the FTURK Satybaldy Dauletalin thanked the heads of all member organizations for unity in action.

“Today, unity and solidarity in our ranks is an established fact. We were able to build an intra-union democracy, the authorities recognized the independence of the trade union community, trade unions continue systematic work to improve trade union and labor legislation. This allowed us to regain the trust of the international and trade union movement. The victory of our candidate in the presidential elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan testifies to the society’s request for social justice. Together with our colleagues from the People’s Coalition, we will have to implement all the priorities of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s election platform aimed at creating decent conditions and remuneration for Kazakhstanis. The request of the Labor Man for social justice must be supported by real deeds,” stressed Satybaldy Dauletalin.

In turn, the trade union leaders of industry and regional trade unions expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Federation of Trade Unions for their contribution to resolving the issue of restoring the membership of the FTURK in the MCP and noted that they are ready to continue to promote trade union initiatives to improve the welfare of the working people and build a Fair Kazakhstan.

“Power engineers have high hopes for President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who for the first time in many years outlined the problems of the energy industry,” said Chairman of the Branch Trade Union of Power Engineers Orazbek Bekbas.

“In the last few years, the state has paid attention to the problems of the educational sphere. Thanks to the joint actions of trade unions and social partners, teachers’ salaries are gradually increasing, the law “On the status of a teacher” has been adopted, an increase in the minimum wage will favorably affect the welfare of technical staff in the educational sector,” said Aigul Mukasheva, chairman of the Branch Trade Union of Education and Science Workers.

“The President heard us. The minimum wage has been increasing for the second year. But we can’t stop there. Trade unions must constantly monitor the social well-being of employees,” Kerim Primkululy, chairman of the Branch Trade Union of Workers in Chemical, Petrochemical and Related Industries, shared his opinion.

“On the ground, territorial and branch associations of trade unions should strengthen joint work to solve the problems of employees of enterprises with social partners,” Irina Aronova, chairman of the Trade Union Center of Kostanay region, said in turn.

“The time of change opens up new opportunities for promoting the interests of a Working Person. To do this, we have the main tool – our unity,” said Elena Mustafina, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Industry Trade Union.

“The restoration of membership in the ITUC allows Kazakhstani trade unions to intensify work on the implementation of international standards in social and labor relations,” Svetlana Imankulova, chairman of the Branch Trade Union of Workers of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Information, shared her opinion.

“I propose to work on returning the legislative initiative to the trade unions and further develop building relationships with social partners on an equal footing,” said Sultan Kaliyev, chairman of the Oil and Gas Industry Trade Union.

“One election campaign in our country has ended, legislative elections are coming soon. Trade unions should nominate their candidates to ensure the possibility of promoting trade union initiatives at the legislative level,” said Mukhtar Tinikeev, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions.

Summarizing the discussion, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin stressed that in the near future the Federation of Trade Unions and member organizations will have to develop a plan of concrete actions, including changes to labor, trade union legislation, and develop new provisions in the General Agreement for 2023-2025, as well as take an active position in the upcoming electoral period.

“It is important to work out a common tactic of work in the upcoming parliamentary elections. It is time for us to hold solidarity actions and declare our real strength, which can effectively promote the interests of working people. In this crucial period, we do not intend to stop at what we have achieved. Fair Kazakhstan is not just words for us, but a call for decisive action for the benefit of every working citizen of Kazakhstan. The man of labor is the foundation of our state. Our social partners should also be aware of this,” Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin summed up.
