CHAIRMAN OF THE FTURK: “IN THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBAL TURBULENCE, TRADE UNIONS SHOULD EXPAND THEIR FUNCTIONS BY DEVELOPING LAWS IN FAVOR OF THE LABOR MAN”

Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin is on a working visit to Tbilisi (Georgia), where he is taking part in the International Conference “Trade unions promote peace and sustainable development by promoting democracy and decent work”.

During the two-day Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Georgia, trade union leaders from Europe and Central Asia, international experts, as well as members of the government and representatives of the non-governmental sector of Georgia consider the current problems of workers around the world and discuss ways to solve them.

Opening the anniversary forum, President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Georgia (CTUG) Irakli Petriashvili thanked those present for fruitful cooperation.

He focused on the pressing problems faced by workers and called on the participants to develop a dialogue to promote the interests and improve the welfare of workers.

Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletalin delivered a congratulatory speech at the conference, who expressed gratitude to the leader of the Georgian Union of Trade Unions for the development of friendly relations between trade unions of both countries, as well as for his special contribution to the development of the world trade union movement.

“Today, the Georgian trade unions, uniting about 200 thousand members, are rightfully one of the leading institutions of civil society, whose activities serve the economic and social progress of independent Georgia. Celebrating the thirtieth anniversary, your organization confidently looks forward, convincingly proving that you have a glorious past and a promising future. High professionalism of service to a Man of Work, devotion to trade union ideals have become the main principle of successful activity of Georgian trade unions. Over the years, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Georgia has received wide and deserved recognition, both in Georgia and far beyond its borders. I express my sincere gratitude to you for your selfless work for the benefit of the working people, for your sincere desire to make Georgia a strong and prosperous country. We highly appreciate our business relationship and strong friendship with you,” Satybaldy Dauletalin said in his congratulation.

The Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan made a special emphasis on the key tasks of the global trade union movement and consolidated actions that meet the challenges of our time.

“Today, in the conditions of global turbulence, trade unions, which are an integral part of civil society, must expand their functions, increasingly penetrating into various spheres of activity, not limiting themselves to protecting workers and developing laws in favor of the Working Person. Today’s trade unions are actively involved in solving the problems not only of their members, but also of other workers. In the field of view of trade unions are issues of employment, pensions, labor migration and other aspects related to different social groups. Participation in all spheres of social relations related to labor activity is an essential element of the strategy of trade unions’ actions at the present stage. We have to solve very serious tasks, which is impossible without consolidated actions and strengthening cooperation between trade unions,” stressed Satybaldy Dauletalin.

Speaking about the crises of representation in the trade union movement, he recalled the decline in trade union membership, largely due to global transformations in the economy, the introduction of new technologies and the development of informal employment.

Satybaldy Dauletalin noted the need to strengthen the achieved advantages of trade unions, which occupy the position of the main representative of workers in the social partnership system.

“The continuous communication between trade unions of different countries, the constant exchange of relevant information and the extraction of useful experience from best practices serves the stated goals,” the leader of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan is confident.

In recognition of special merits in strengthening international trade union solidarity and developing bilateral cooperation, the Chairman of the FTURK Satybaldy Dauletalin presented the President of the Association of Trade Unions of Georgia Irakli Petriashvili with the award of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Yntymaktastyk”.

Satybaldy Dauletalin also thanked the professional leaders of all countries who voted on November 17 in Melbourne in support of restoring the membership of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the International Trade Union Confederation.
