THE DELEGATION OF THE FPRK TAKES PART IN THE WORK OF THE 14TH CONGRESS OF TURKISH TRADE UNIONS HIZMET-IŞ

The 14th Hizmet-Iş Trade Union Congress is being held in Ankara on December 16-17. The forum is attended by representatives of National Trade Union Centers from 26 countries of the world. The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan is represented at the Congress by the First Deputy Chairman of the FTURK Mukhtar Tinikeev.

Welcoming the participants of the forum, President of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Hak-Iş Mahmut Arslan noted the importance of the participation of international representatives, National trade union centers and experts in the Congress.

“International cooperation of trade unions is especially important now, in a period of global economic and geopolitical turbulence. I call on all representatives of employees to unite. Only together we will be able to overcome all modern challenges in the labor sphere,” said Mahmut Arslan.

Addressing the organizers and participants of the Congress on behalf of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, First Deputy Chairman of the FTURK Mukhtar Tinikeev wished the forum success and stressed the commitment of the FTURK to fruitful cooperation with foreign partners.

“On behalf of the two million army of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I thank you for the invitation to participate in the Congress. I am sure that the decisions taken during its work will become a guideline for further joint actions of all participants of the forum for the benefit of the working people of our countries,” Mukhtar Tinikeev stressed.

On the first day of the Congress, representatives of National Trade Union Centers outlined topical issues in the activities of trade unions in their countries. As it was noted, the problems of overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which aggravated the socio-economic situation of workers in many countries of the world, remain common to all participants of the forum.

On Saturday, December 17, the Congress will continue its work. The election of a new leadership of the Turkish trade union Hizmet-Iş is expected, as well as the adoption of the final resolution of the forum.

For reference: Hizmet-iş was founded on January 24, 1979.

The trade union is a member of the HAK-IŞ Confederation and is a member of the International Organization of Public Services – IPS (International Public Service) and the European Federation of Public Service Trade Unions – EFPSTU (European Federation of Public Service Trade Unions) in the international arena — this is the General Affairs Office No. 20 in Turkey. It operates and is mainly organized in local administrations and municipalities. It has cooperation agreements with 47 trade unions in 32 countries of the world. On the basis of these agreements, the trade union conducts training programs for activists, and develops the activities of Women’s and Youth Committees, the Committee for People with Disabilities. The trade union also conducts extensive cultural and educational activities, actively works with migrants.

According to published statistics, the number of members of Hizmet-Iş has reached more than 252 thousand people.
