The office of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the FTURK Satybalda Dauletalin with members of the Branch Council of the NGO “Kazakhstan Branch Professional Union of Information, Communications and Telecommunications Workers”.
The chairman of the branch trade union, Ualisher Baysariev, spoke about the activities of the trade union association. The branch trade union has been in existence for 25 years and unites more than 10 thousand employees of the postal service of the communication, information and telecommunications system.
The members of the Council shared the problems of the industry. According to them, despite the annual indexation of salaries of employees of the branches of JSC “Kazpost”, the amount of remuneration for their work remains low. The latest wage increase since February 1 of this year has improved the situation by 20%. However, according to the chairman of the Local Trade Union of Postal Workers of the North Kazakhstan region Bereke Chopenova, the issue is particularly acute in rural post offices, where workers receive 60-65 thousand tenge.
Representatives of postal workers’ unions see a way out in optimizing branches in small rural settlements, where residents mainly use mail services only during receiving pension payments (once a month). The professional leaders appealed to the Chairman of the FTURK with a request to assist in solving the problems of rural postal workers.
After listening to his colleagues, Satybaldy Dauletalin noted that for the Federation of Trade Unions it is a priority to help solve the problems of ordinary members of trade unions and proposed, based on analysis from the regions of the country, to develop a package of recommendations for social partners in the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“The main trade union value is our solidarity. This kind of feedback from primary and local trade unions is important when preparing a package of measures to improve the welfare of workers in all spheres, including the postal service. Trade unions should not only raise problems, but also suggest ways to solve them. After analyzing the proposals from regional trade union organizations, we are ready to submit a package of priority measures for postal workers for consideration by our social partners at the level of the Government of the country,” the Chairman of the FTURK said.
He recalled that the full protection of the social and labor rights and interests of each trade union member is reflected in the Strategy of the FTURK adopted at the 26th Congress and is the basic principle of the Federation itself and its member organizations.
“The primary trade union organization is the basis of the trade union movement. Our task is to create the most favorable conditions for the work and life of our primary school members. We will continue to adhere to our slogan – “In unity to justice and development”,” summed up Satybaldy Dauletalin.
