The Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan held constructive negotiations with the delegation of the International Labor Organization

In Astana, the leadership of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan met with the delegation of the International Labor Organization (ILO), headed by Mr. Jan Farzan.

According to the Chairman of the FTU of the RK Bakhytzhan Abdirayim, the Federation of Trade Unions continues work on improving the legislation on trade unions and the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Together with its trade unions, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan constantly participates in the work of the Working Group under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including on bringing the current legislation into line with ILO Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association.

According to the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to date, 24 ILO Conventions have been ratified in Kazakhstan, including 8 fundamental, 4 directive and 12 technical conventions. In 2010-2017, seven conventions were ratified.

In its turn, the Federation made proposals to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on ratification of a number of ILO Conventions: “On part-time work”, “On main goals and norms of social policy”, “On labor statistics” etc.

The proposals of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan allow, at a legislative level, to address issues of raising living standards, improving social policy, expanding statistical data in the world of work, underemployment, working hours, and protecting the rights of domestic workers.

ILO representatives voiced opinions and proposals on the elimination of the comments of the ILO Committee of Experts, as well as the activities of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the initiative to legislatively consolidate the trade union movement in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the meeting, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan voiced the idea of ​​holding a significant event dedicated to the future of the world of work on the eve of the ILO’s 100th anniversary.
